Leupold GX-I Product Description

Leupolds GX I is a line-of-sight rangefinder that is allowed in many tournament courses because it complies with USGA rule 14-3. This device has seven aiming reticles so golfers have the option of choosing the point of aim to their eyesight or style of play. This option along with an easy-to-use scan mode makes this a favorite amongst various golfers. The GX-I model uses the PinHunter laser aiming system. This proprietary combination of hardware and software used by Leupold makes this aiming system very effective under various golf conditions.

Leupold GX-I vs Bushnell V2

Caveat: Its hard to get a hold of a Leupold GX-I in stores. So, you will have to order this online just to get a closer look at it. You won’t regret it.

Look & Feel: The Leupold GX I, has a nice feel to it when you pick it up and use it for the first time. It even looks better than the Bushnell V2. The GX-I has a nice rubberized, rugged feel that gives you a good comfortable grip and it looks good too.

Reticles: When you first start looking at rangefinders you will probably not even consider this feature. A reticle is the shape that you see when you are looking through the rangefinder when trying to gauge distances. The Bushnell V2 only has a small circle. The GX-I has 7 different shapes or reticles to pick from. The reticles are clearer and less distracting on the GX-I. The yardage numbers display is also easier to read in the GX-I.

Magnification: The GX-I has a 6X magnification versus the 5X that the V2 has. This difference won’t matter much when you are viewing flags or a small target. But, when you are looking at the front or the back edge of a fairway bunker thats when you notice the 17% difference in magnification.

Speed: The GX-1 is FAST. It was lightning fast compared to any of the Bushnell rangefinders. When you use the V2 you will notice the delay even if its for a few seconds. That small amount of time will matter when you want to get on with your game rather than wait around for your rangefinder to work. The GX-I is probably one of the fastest rangefinders we have ever seen.

So, if you are looking for a rangefinder that is ahead of its competition then get the Leupold GX-I. The GX-II has more options such as slope measurement, temperature and club recommendations (with a little bit of training). But, the GX-I is a tournament legal, making it our top recommendation for most golfers.
